Local Culture, Tradition and Festivals in Sayulita
The heart of many Mexican towns is often the central “plaza” or square.
In general, because of the heat and deep-rooted social traditions, most Latin communities’ activities are out of the street, in the plazas and celebrated through strong family bonds and friendship.
Sayulita’s central square has a very inviting design and is a great place to catch up with the news and gossip within the community. If you are visiting with children it’s also a safe and fun place to meet other families and meet new friends. Later in the evening you can often find sweet performers, local dancers and live music around the central square.
Contemporary culture is also celebrated every year through the increasingly popular Festival Sayulita in February. Boasting a wide variety of activities like the central surfing competition, cinema, live music and yoga workshops, it has already acquired the interesting distinction of being unlike any other festival in the Americas.
Festival Sayulita is also popular for “Tragos” which showcased top quality wines, spirits, and craft beers. So if that all sound like the perfect combination it’s time to book your ticket and come visit us!
